Application of Sodium Metasilicate in Detergents
Detergent: Sodium Metasilicate effectively reacts with calcium and magnesium ions in water to form insoluble calcium and magnesium silicate precipitates, thereby softening hard water. This helps improve detergent effectiveness, as the calcium and magnesium ions in hard water react with the surfactants in detergents, reducing their cleaning ability.
Buffer: It acts as a pH buffer, helping to maintain the pH of the detergent solution within an appropriate range to ensure optimal detergent performance.
Stabilizer: Sodium Metasilicate enhances the stability of detergent products, preventing ingredient separation or precipitation, and extending the shelf life of the product.
Suspending Agent: In liquid detergents, it acts as a suspending agent, helping to keep solid particles uniformly dispersed and preventing sedimentation.
Stain Removal Enhancer: It helps improve the detergent's cleaning ability, especially for grease and protein stains. Sodium Metasilicate promotes the hydrolysis and dispersion of these stains.
Preventing Redeposition: During the washing process, Sodium Metasilicate helps prevent stains already removed from clothing from redepositing on fabrics.
Fiber Protection: It also helps protect fabric fibers from damage caused by mechanical and chemical action during the washing process.
Due to these properties, Sodium Metasilicate is widely used in a variety of laundry products, including laundry detergents, liquid detergents, and pre-wash agents.
